I spent the night inside the car in the barn, staying warm enough inside to recover up to half health, but ran low on food and had to smash open a few tins I'd collected along the way to avoid starvation.
With the furniture and nearby sticks, I created a fire lasting the night, then harvested all the nearby cattail stalks before resting, staying warm enough to survive my first day.Īt dawn, I ran from Timberwolf Mountain down to Pleasant Valley, making my way via Skeeter's Ridge and Draft Dodger's Cabin until I reached the barn at the Pleasant Valley Outbuildings. Undeterred, I proceeded to find matches and a heavy hammer inside the hut, and used them to smash all the furniture possible, lighting a fire and boiling some water in my tin can.

There is one guaranteed spawn in the world for each rare item. Other than the above limit on hammer spawns, rare items can be found in any region and are almost evenly distributed. Like the vanilla game mode, hammers cannot be found in regions with a forge. Spawns are purely random and not dependent on any other the spawn of any other items. All spawn points have been hand-placed and are each specific to one particular item. There are numerous locations that the items can spawn at across the game world.
On vanilla interloper, finding one rare item allows the player to know the locations of every other rare item in the game world. This is a mod for The Long Dark by Hinterland Studio, Inc.
